Rotary Encoders Rotary encoders, coupled to rotating equipment, provide a digital feedback signal to a controller. Linear Encoders Based on an inductive principle, Sensata | Newall linear sensors are well sealed and especially rugged. Hall Effect Sensors Hall effect sensors measure the position of a rotating magnet to produce an analog position signal. Potentiometers Potentiometers use a variation in resistance to measure rotary or linear position. Inclinometer Tilt Sensors Tilt sensors indicate an angular position relative to the local gravity vector. Draw Wire Sensors Draw Wires have a wire spool attached to a rotary sensor; this converts the wire length into a value on the sensor. Digital Readouts Sensata | Newall Digital Readouts give a visual, numerical indication of position when used with a linear encoder. LVDTs LVDTs are the standard for flight and engine control position measurements.
